چکیده

We consider a model of (spatial) voting with endogenous timing. In line with actual political campaigns, candidates can decide endogenously when and where to locate. More specifically, we analyze endogenous timing in a two-period n-candidate spatial-votinggame. We show that this game possesses a pure-strategy equilibrium∗ (OSBORNE [1993]) but no – or only very complex – subgame-perfect equilibria. We demonstrate the latter point by analyzing the subgame-perfect equilibria in a three-candidate game. Our results show that allowing for endogenous timing can eliminate some of the more unappealing equilibrium characteristics of the standard model. (JEL: C 72, D 72, R 10)

The effect of acute and chronic administration of naloxone on spatial memory in male cholestatic rats

Background and Objective: A great body of evidences suggested a marked elevation of endogenous opioid levels in plasma of animals with acute cholestasis. Endogenous opioids are implicated in the pathophysiology of cholestasis. Also, many studies have shown that endogenous opioids modulate memory processes. To clarify possible role of endogenous opioid receptors in information processing in acut...

Spatial assessment and analysis of endogenous development zones in region 3 of Isfahan metropolis

Aims and Background: Following the rapid population growth and the emergence of new urbanization developments in the world, different and sometimes contradictory solutions have been proposed for the development of cities. We see these solutions in development patterns such as surface dispersion, jump development, etc., which impose infrastructure and environmental costs on the city. This proces...

Spectral-spatial classification of hyperspectral images by combining hierarchical and marker-based Minimum Spanning Forest algorithms

Many researches have demonstrated that the spatial information can play an important role in the classification of hyperspectral imagery. This study proposes a modified spectral–spatial classification approach for improving the spectral–spatial classification of hyperspectral images. In the proposed method ten spatial/texture features, using mean, standard deviation, contrast, homogeneity, corr...

Voting on Infrastructure Investment: The Role of Product Market Competition

In spatial competition, public infrastructure plays a crucial role in determining product market outcomes. In our model, consideration of infrastructure’s impact on the product market drives the voting behavior of consumers in their dual role as voter/taxpayers. The spatial heterogeneity of consumers produces conflicting political interests and in many cases inefficient outcomes. However across...

If You Like It, then You Shoulda Put a Sticker on It A Model for Strategic Timing in Voting

Sticker Voting is a voting method where ballots are cast by placing stickers on favored candidates. It differs from many other voting methods because the act of voting reveals information to other players, which induces an asymmetry of information available to subsequent voters. Voters may strategize through both the choice of the submitted ballot and the timing of its submission. In this paper...
